For the fourth year in a row, GVI Cap Ternay volunteers will use a combination of creativity, engineering, and luck to build homemade rafts and race into Bay Ternay.  Using resources from around base or around the island, teams of four from our expedition, as well as our partner organizations across the Seychelles, will race to a deep mooring buoy in the center of the bay and then race back to the finish line at our beach.  With limited resources available, and motorized parts forbidden, it will be quite a challenge for the teams to build a sturdy and fast raft to pull them to victory.  The race will take place June 18.

Throughout the year we support the President's Village Children's Home in Port Glaud, Mahe.  This village was established to provide a safe and caring home for nearly 60 children who have been removed from their families for a variety of reasons including abuse or neglect, or who have no families to return to.  The Home provides them with a place to live, food, education, and the daily support and care that children need.  We step in to provide supplementary funds towards clothing, school supplies, Christmas gifts, etc, and are in the final stages of installing a large solar panel system on one of the large dorm buildings, which will provide clean and sustainable energy for the group.  This achievement has taken us over a year to fundraise, and in order to maintain the project over the coming years we need to keep raising funds!  We also take the kids out each week to snorkel, swim, and splash at a nearby beach to help them learn to swim and have a bit of fun. 

All funds to the Cap Ternay fund of the GVI Charitable Trust will be used to support the President's Village Children's Home.  Thank you for your support of our teams!
