Fundraising for Bath Rugby Foundation
Story
On the 15th, March 2020, I will complete the Bath Half Marathon carrying a rugby ball in support of the Bath Rugby Foundation. (Ironically running the egg and not chasing one for a change :-)
Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club set up to empower young people to succeed. They focus on the needs of the community, using rugby to improve Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion in the South West.
- Story
Founded in 1865, Bath Rugby is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the country. Beyond its sporting achievements, it has a powerful emotional connection with its supporter base and the World Heritage City it calls home. The formation of Bath Rugby Community Foundation in 2004 was a landmark moment in that relationship.
- Purpose
Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club set up to empower all young people in Bath and surrounding areas to succeed. Bath is a city famed for its Roman baths, impressive Georgian architecture, Jane Austen - and of course its outstanding rugby club. But behind the Georgian façade lies a different story. Today 20% of children living in Bath live in poverty. Bath Rugby Foundation exists to bridge the gap between the poorest and most affluent areas, and build a positive, supportive community in BaNES.
- Action
They are an outstanding team with a big voice and an massive positive impact. They use the values of rugby to inspire young people to create a better future for themselves though sport. They focus on key areas of need in the community, specifically, improving Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion in the South West. They target young people in their everyday environments - whether that's in the park, at school or in the street.
All of their projects pair classroom based learning with getting active on
the pitch. Their participants leave with raised confidence, and new life
skills, part of the Bath Rugby family.
