Story

Hello!  Firstly, thanks so much for at least visiting this page.  Hopefully you're about to make a donation and a difference to someone's life.  Shamefull guilt play there, let's hope it works!

You wouldn't be on this page if I didn't think you could spare £20 for a good cause.  I only ask for sponsorship once a year and this is it for 2008 ...

This year Cognizant is entering three teams into the Prince's Trust Wild UK Challenge (which may or may not be sponsored by those slackers at CapGemini).  I'll be in the "Haymarket Tigers" team with my good buddies Matt Wall, Paul Hope and one other willing volenteer who remains "TBC" at this point.

Over the course of 3 days (5th to 7th September) we'll make our own way, under our own power (no cars, horses or whatever) from the north Somerset coast to the south Devon coast.  Along the way we will compete against other teams in navigation tasks, hill trekking, on and off road biking, flat water kayaking and orienteering.

We'll be camping in "team tents" (so feel sorry for the rest of my team) and surviving on only what we can catch in the woods and rivers with our bare hands (probably).

Over 90% of the funds raised will go directly to the Princes Trust with the remaining amount going to the organisers of the event.  This is a crackingly high percentage for these charity events.

Thanks for sponsoring me, thanks for making a difference,
Guy

The Prince’s Trust helps change young lives – young people who feel they have no hope or future. Since The Trust was set up by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1976, it has helped more than half a million young people to turn their lives around. It focuses on the hardest to reach – those who have struggled at school, are long-term unemployed, are in or leaving care or have been in trouble with the law - young people that others can’t, or won’t, support.  The Trust encourages young people to take responsibility for themselves and by helping young people to get jobs or into education and training, it is actively working towards a better, more integrated society, a reduction in crime and disorder, and safer communities
for everyone.
