Story
I'm using my age ... 53 ... believe it or not (actually don't believe it) and in a convoluted way using that figure to give a number of kilometres (rather than miles) that I will cycle in a way befitting of my age ... no lycra ... no "all the gear and no idea" ... but wearing slim-fit jeans, warmish upperwear, comfortable yet suitable shoes and canvas boots (depending on terrain) and on a his'n'hers matching brand new fold-up bikes that my daughter wouldn't be seen remotely near her on. Of course with my wife to make the his'n'hers picture complete.
I won't be aiming for crazy distances or record speeds and I will be stopping if it gets a bit windy or rains or if I see see something worth looking at or taking a pic of. I will create 'personal bests' as I progress but I'm unlikely to 'smash them'. My PBs are likely to be things I see and take pics of or maybe a cafe.
The carefully chosen routes will be conveniently not too far away and fit in with local school pickups, etc and are likely to be on the sea front Kent coast and/or the Royal Military Canal.
All very sensible.
