Story
In 2007, my Mum was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Chemotherapy sent it into remission, then in 2017 it returned, to be cast aside again through surgery, however, during the recent lockdowns it metastasized into lung and liver cancer and she is once again fighting this miserable disease that seems to have no rhyme or reason as to who it strikes down.
She now struggles with breathlessness when simply heading up the stairs; I have no such problem and therefore felt the need to do something useful with my fully functioning lungs. I'm more adept at chasing an egg or pedalling leisurely around the countryside so I would humbly invite you to donate a couple of quid to McMillan as I turn my hand to plodding around 13 miles of Somerset.
Update: As this event was postponed twice, I have in the mean time, completed 5 half marathons already this year with a view to now doing the London marathon in April, if I get in. Was originally aiming for under two hours but now have a PB of 1 hour 46 minutes, doubt I'll beat that in hilly Somerset but I'll give it a go!
Thanks in advance for your support.
