Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was introduced to Blind Veterans UK (then St. Dunstan's) nearly two years ago. Their wonderful work has particular resonance for me, because I simply cannot imagine being without the gift of sight which I'm sure the vast majority of us take for granted. Rehabilitating those who lose such a gift in the service of our country or thereafter, as Blind Veterans UK has been doing for nearly 100 years since the middle of the First War, seems to me a cause particularly worthy of support.
I've always admired those who take on physical challenges for charity, but being very conscious of my own limitations I have had to accept that running a marathon simply isn't going to happen! Walking a very long way in a short period of time will be strenuous in the extreme for someone of my size (and questionable fitness), but will hopefully be achievable. Passing within 500 metres of our front door in the middle of the night at around the half way mark will add an extra dimension to the challenge!
Thanks for your interest. Any support you can give when I am sure you are beset by many equally worthy requests, will be hugely appreciated obviously by me but much more importantly by those very brave men and women whom it will benefit.
