Story
I'm taking part in an Ultra Challenge for CAFOD to support their emergency aid work in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries.
To raise money for CAFOD, I am walking 50km (31 miles) through the Lake District with my wife Fran, who is raising money for the MS Society. You can find her JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fran-guratsky
As part of one of the largest aid networks in the world, CAFOD can help people in remote areas and warzones. They are able to reach people in areas where social care and government structures aren’t strong, which is why their work is currently so important in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries (particularly Poland), where it can utilise its existing networks to reach those in desperate need.
The most urgent needs include food and hygiene supplies, as well as amenities such as mattresses, sleeping bags, blankets, and mobile kitchens.
Parishes in Poland and Ukraine have prepared and are preparing consultation points where refugees, including children, will receive psychological support. Almost all of Poland’s 10,000 parishes are supporting refugees, who are being housed in Church buildings, monasteries and convents, seminaries, and Caritas centres. Polish dioceses are organising transport for refugees.

Please give what you can to support their work and help them to reach those whose lives have been torn apart by senseless war.
Thank you for your generous support!
