Story
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 10 years ago. But I have access to drugs and treatment and neurologists to make it more bearable. I am going to travel through Africa visiting people with Parkinson's Disease and the few neurologists that exist to draw attention to the problems of Parkinson's Disease in Africa and to shine a light on the suffering of those people who have no access to the drugs and care that we have in the UK..
I am travelling largely alone in a well equipped VW camper van which is already in Sierra Leone. I had reached Freetown when Covid 19 stopped me in my tracks. I was evacuated back to the UK and am just waiting for the borders to reopen so i can return to Sierra Leone and continue the journey.
The return to UK allowed me to revisit my plans and through a chance meeting with Rob Hayward of NewFruit Films the rest of my journey is going to be filmed properly and made into a documentary highlighting the plight of those with Parkinson's in Africa
Funding the film is a separate challenge, so all i am asking of you is to contribute to the effort of Cure Parkinson’s who support pioneering research into finding a cure.
A word about the charity: Cure Parkinson's are here for the cure. Cure Parkinson’s is working with urgency to find new treatments to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s.Their funding and innovation has redefined the field of Parkinson’s research, enabling the world’s leading researchers to prioritise the next generation of drugs for clinical trial. Together we will conquer Parkinson’s.
