Story
I have completed the London Marathon and I'm now one of five T38 (runners with cerebral palsy) male runners to have completed a marathon in the UK. I will be going on to take on the following races in 2023:
- London Marathon (Completed)
- Exebury 10km
- Great North Run - Half Marathon
- Great South Run - 10 miles
Now the emotional part:
Ever since my mother had a fatal heart attack at home when I was with her, I lost confidence in my physical self and ability. I blamed my disability for not being able to feel her pulse properly and no matter how I challenged myself I could never regain my confidence.
That is until the past year when I took up running with the Hamwic Harriers. Not only did my fitness improve but I started to rediscover a confidence that has resulted in improved performances. I'm a T38 classified runner (classification for runners with Cerebral Palsy)
After three years of being part of the virtual London Marathon, I decided it was time to soak up the atmosphere for real and take on the London Marathon for real. I will be doing this for Weldmar Hospice Care who looked after Mum at home during her illness.
