It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

Birmingham Childrens Ward 10. NEURO SURGERY.

helped my Nephew who was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma which is a rare paediatric Brain Tumour. His surgery and after care by the capable and wonderful staff of Ward 10.

Ward 10 is a specialist neurological and neuropsychological ward which treats patients with epilepsy, craniofacial conditions, those who have had neurological surgery and are undergoing rehabilitation.

They also treat emergency brain injuries caused by road traffic accidents and elective surgeries to treat brain tumours.

From diagnosis to treatment the nurses and doctors work together with parents to ensure their child has the emotional and medical care they need.

The nurses and play workers provide rehabilitation nursing care, emotional, psychological care, occupational therapy, physio and play therapy.

Play therapy can be underestimated but it's importance is priceless. Children use their senses and touch in painting modelling etc. This aids healing in a non medical way.
