Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 23 May 2011 my 13 years old nephew, Cameron, died of a brain tumor. In the weeks following Cameron's death Demelza Hospice provided his family with a huge amount of support. This year I am going to try to give something back. Cameron was a very strong swimmer, so on 23 May I will be attempting to swim 120 lengths of the pool at my local sports centre in less than 120 minutes.
All money raised through sponsorship will be donated to Demelza Hospice.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have now completed the swim. The target was to swim 120 lengths in less than 120 minutes. I completed the 120 lengths in 90 mins 37 secs, and went on to swim 155 lengths in 119 mins 40 secs. Because of your sponsorship, including gift aid and off-line donations, I have managed to raise around £750 for Demelza Hospice. Thank you all for your kind and generous donations, and the warm wishes you have sent me over the last few days. The former will make a big difference to children in the same position Cameron was in last year, and the latter have made a huge difference to me on an emotionally tough day. Paul xxx
