Peter's Guildford Mukono 100

Guildford Mukono 100 · 12 September 2015
Guildford Mukono Sports supports volunteers in Mukono, Uganda - close to Kampala. They have truly limited resources and provide opportunities for children in the area to play and enjoy sports including football, running and tennis. We take for granted the opportunity to participate in extra curricular activities, but for these children, the sports run by the charity are their only chance to enjoy all the benefits of sport: staying fit, being part of a team, having fun and raising self esteem.
I saw at first hand the difference the activities make. They work in several primary schools as well as in a school for deaf children. The children are impoverished and with no other outlet in their lives. I saw how appreciated the volunteers are in their own communities and I want to raise money to support their work.
The money will be spent on equipment and sports clothing. It will also be spent on organising tournaments between the schools.
The money raised will have an immediate impact. I met the volunteer organisers - Kalule, Douglas, Vincent and Julius, who have shared their plans for the coming months. Last February I took out footballs, new and used tennis rackets as well as tennis balls which are already being put to good use by the children at several schools.
Please give generously as on September 13th I will be embarking on a long, challenging ride in the Surrey Hills and North Downs. The route will take in towns and villages to spellout GUILDFORD MUKONO and will be 100 miles long.
