Story
Conquering this pandemic means a temporary hold on large group gatherings. Unfortunately, this means non-profits are unable to host core fundraising events, such as races. As a runner, I often take part in races that raise money for good causes and have dearly missed participating in these events.
Thankfully, I've been able to run solo even if races are off the table. This gave me an idea: what if there was a race with just one person? It could draw attention to a good cause while so many events are lost this year.
To that end, I'm going to stage a one-man marathon. The run will support the Lowcountry Food Bank(LCFB), a terrific organization that feeds children, seniors and families who struggle with hunger in the Charleston, SC area.
For every dollar raised, we can help create 6 meals for the food insecure. So my hope it to raise $3,000 through the support of the community, pledging to train for and run the full race, spreading awareness for the LFB. At the end of my 26.2 mile run through the Charleston area, I'll hand over the proceeds to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
