Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2017 · 30 July 2017 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 30th July, five Goldman riders are taking part in RideLondon, competing against two other City firms to raise funds (and finish in the fastest time) for education charity Teach First. 300 Teach First pupils will also be taking part in the Ride – an amazing and motivating experience for them.
Globally, the UK is ranked 22nd in Maths and 27th in reading. Just one in three pupils from poor backgrounds get five good GCSEs, only one in five will go to university, and the odds of reaching Oxford or Cambridge is 2001:1.
Teach First places top graduates to teach in schools in the poorest communities in the UK for two years to raise attainment. Alongside, they give pupils employability skills training and run a two-year university mentoring scheme that helps hundreds of pupils a year access top universities.
82% of those mentored go to university, 40% to top universities and 8 pupils this year got into Oxford or Cambridge (of just 40 poor pupils nationwide).
For every £1250 we raise, we can sponsor a pupil through the two-year programme.
The good news is, for every £100 you donate to our JustGiving page, Teach First could receive £225. How?
Goldman Sachs Gives will match your donation £ for £ (visit this link) & Teach First will receive £25 in Gift Aid, so £100 becomes £225. If you pay a higher rate of income tax you can also claim back the difference between the higher rate of tax you pay and the basic rate of tax on the total 'gross' value of your donation.
If you’d like to personally sponsor a pupil, you can do this with a matched donation of £555.
Goldman Sachs have supported Teach First since 2006, donating almost £2m and giving hundreds of volunteer hours to boost pupils employability skills.
We hope you’ll get behind this great cause and help us give more children an excellent education.
