Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Thanks for visiting my Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising page.
Rarely do we get the chance to stop and take stock of things, to really count our blessings. In December 07 I was involved in a nasty skiing accident which gave me 5 months’ worth of recovery and thinking time. More than anything I realised how lucky I am to have good health and a loving family. My involvement in my first ever Half Marathon represented my commitment to 3 charities to whom I am personally indebted. We all have our favourite charities – maybe ones which have a personal connection. I hope that you will feel able to help one of mine. These are hard times for charities – indeed for us all – and as such any amount is welcome. Those who know me know that I don’t look like a runner, I am not remotely a runner. To say that a Half Marathon was a challenge for me is a complete understatement. However, I found it hugely motivational to know that my challenge will raise money for such fantastic causes. I succeeded in running the Half Marathon in 2 hours, 25 mins and 13 seconds. That I did so is in no small part due to the support that I received from Mr Motivator (a friend from Worcester Athletic Club) and the wonderful ladies in Malvern Joggers' Gentle Joggers group - what a fantastic team we were - training in all weathers and with such enthusiasm. Thank you to them all for their support. This year, in November, work will commence on the Macmillan Renton Unit in Hereford. This will bring much-needed, state-of-the-art, enhanced chemotherapy services to help people living with cancer in and around Herefordshire. Over the last couple of years local supporters, incredibly, have raised over £2 million to make this project happen. My fundraising target represents my commitment to this wonderful project and to Macmillan Cancer Support whose work I receive the most amazing feedback about on a daily basis. I am thrilled to be a part of Macmillan's vision to help everybody affected by cancer.Give only what you can, every contribution helps.
Thank you,
Grouty
