Story
Many thanks to Marks and Spencers in Aberystwyth who have very kindly offered to have a table with our buckets on as we are unable to collect in store.
Thank you so much to absolutely everyone who has donated so far to our virtual fundraising page, we have had a fantastic response to it and massive support from many people. Part of the money raised was by Guide Dog owner Louise who cycled 100 miles on a tandem, did a 100 mile run and a100 minute sea swim. She had co-pilots to share her tandem journeys with, guide runners and guide swimmers too so a massive shout out to them as well for making it possible for her to complete this challenge. Her Guide Dog Trinity has woofed to say that 'if you have any spare pennies you could donate so that other dogs get to guide a human as I do, then please donate via this link, we appreciate every single penny. You'll see a picture of me on there too, in fact, thats me above!'
As a result of the latest developments, we are unable to go ahead with thousands of collections planned across the UK in the coming months. Guide Dogs remains committed to supporting people with sight loss across the UK.It has never been more important to come together online and support one another. We appreciate times are difficult right now, but for people with sight loss, social isolation can be their every day. By hosting a virtual collection for Guide Dogs, every pound you or your group raises will ensure we can continue to help people with sight loss and feel less alone, now and in the future. It costs approximately £57,000.00 per dog to breed, train and maintain from cradle to retirement which is usually between the ages of 8 and 10 years old.
