The Grand Brighton Half Marathon 2020 · 23 February 2020 ·

We are Together Co and we create connections that change lives. We do this through our befriending, social prescribing and volunteering services in Brighton, Hove and beyond. In a city of nearly 300,000, no one should be lonely or socially isolated. Together, we can make sure no one is.

Story

Determined to prevent loneliness, social isolation and improve health and wellbeing in Brighton & Hove, and to demonstrate the power of connection Griffith Smith are joining Team Together and taking on the Brighton Half Marathon!

Deborah Francis, Griffith Smith is training for the Brighton Half, Sunday 23rd February 2020 to raise awareness and vital funds to support services that connect people to change lives :-) She will be joining a team of 15 from Together Co - helping raise the profile of this fantastic charity.

Why are we running to raise money for Together Co?

36,000 people in our city are always or often lonely. Loneliness and social isolation are deadly - a lack of social connections has been shown to be as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Together Co is the only dedicated loneliness charity in our city operating the largest national one-to-one befriending service and working with GP surgeries to deliver social prescribing that helps people find places and people they need to feel happier and healthier.

Together Co services are uniquely powered by over 400 incredible volunteers who give their time every week to help someone who otherwise would be chronically lonely. Last year, this amounted to more than 14,000 hours with over 1,000 people receiving help.

Demand for these services is increasing in our city and the charity needs more fantastic fundraisers to enable them to reach more people in need. This has never been more important against a backdrop of funding cuts and grant restrictions.

Please support our team!

Any contribution is greatly appreciated - every pound helps:

Giving just £10 can fund two volunteers to visit someone in need.

£25 could pay for a volunteer to get vital training so they can best support the person they visit.

£50 could pay for a worker to carry out a home assessment of an isolated person to assess their needs.

In a city of nearly 300,000, no one should be lonely or socially isolated. Together, with your support, we can make sure no-one is!

Thank you :-)
