Story
I will be riding 300+ miles with 30 crazy types from the cobbles of Liege, Belgium, to the heart of London in September in memory of a great friend, Greg Thompson, who we lost to pancreatic cancer in October. This is for you Greg......and we hope to raise a ton for Guy's Cancer Centre in London and the wonderful work they do to try and cure and treat this horrible disease....Here is a brief piece on Greg which I posted back in October. We all miss him dearly...
.....We lost a most wonderful human being last week in Greg Thompson to pancreatic cancer. A dear friend, colleague and loved one to all those who knew him. We will miss him greatly and, for those of us who spend much of our time working in the area of oncology, we go forward with an extra bounce in our step from here on. Greg was a gentle man in the truest sense. A proud, family man who had the respect of all those who knew him, with a work ethic that defied all normal parameters. I never once heard Greg raise his voice or lose his patience in 12 years, despite the significant responsibilities that were always placed on his broad shoulders. A physician by training, he brought a bedside manner to all his interactions with all levels of individual and client he worked with. He was a model leader and a true team player whose wide smile and Floridian tan would light up the room. I was fortunate to see Greg a week or so ago, with his mom and wife Terri, and even then, he maintained a level of class and dignity that was humbling. We will all miss him dearly as a friend, a teacher, a teammate and a thoroughly decent human being. (Thank you Terri for giving me permission to post this.) ....
