Story

26 May 2009

"I ran 10k in a tutu, in  56 minutes, a personal best for me!"

I did it, I successfully completed my first ever organised running event in a tutu.  It wasn't pink, it was bright fluro green but it did have sequins.

If you want proof, click here or go to the BUPA London 10,000 website and click on results.

More photos are on my website here.

I am going to run in a tutu? Are you crazy!?!!”

Yes, that's right, in order to reach my fundraising limit of £500, I am resorting to utter humiliation.

I will be running in a tutu.

What more of a reason do you need to sponsor me?

Please click on the "SPONSOR ME NOW" button below.

My fellow runners,  Luke and  Michael will also be running in tutus.

January 2009

Why am I doing this run?

Well, it's a long and complicated story that I won't bore you with but it revolves around too much festive cheer at Christmas time and too many conversations "talking tough" with my girlfriend's family about how easy it would be to run 10km.

Then, one of my girlfriend’s brother, Luke, entered the race (check out his fund raising page here)  and then her  father, Michael, entered. (Check out his fund raising page here and his blog here)

Check out Michael’s blog, it is fantastic!

After that, it was about time I put my running shoes where my mouth is!

Why Welmar Hospice Trust?

“I am doing it for the points, granny.”

I have always been indebted to my girlfriend's granny, Joan.  She showed me such warmth and affection when I joined the family and was always so full of energy and excitement for life, that it was infectious. Even when she was getting more and more unwell, she was first in with a joke and a smile.

Sadly, she passed away at the Weldmar Hospice.

They took fantastic care of her, giving her dignity and respect in her final days and allowed her to spend her final moments surrounded by the people that were important to her, her family.

I hope that this money goes some way to help the hospice give others this same opportunity.

Just so you know, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Weldmar Hospicecare Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a British taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
