Story
In November 2010 one of our twin boys, George, pulled a cup of tea over himself. The burn was not initially considered serious however his condition deteriorated and due to a horrific infection went into toxic shock.
George was in a critical condition, resuscitated, placed on life support and transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital. He spent 4 long days on life support with Chancy and I obviously wanting to be with him at all times. Great Ormond Street provided the most wonderful, life-saving care and, thanks to The Sick Children's Trust, we were able to stay in a home nearby so as to never be too far from him.
The Sick Children's Trust is a wonderful organisation providing homes up and down the country for parents to stay in whilst their children are in hospital. All homes are equipped with a kitchen, living room, utility area, bathrooms and play room. This meant that we were never more than 100 yards from George's bedside and able to get much needed rest and meals during those anxious days.
It costs the Sick Children's Trust £28 a night, per room to provide a service that is truly priceless to those in need.
I first ran the marathon in 2011 in support of the Sick Children’s Trust and have continued to support the charity over the past 5 years. This year I would love to match and even exceed my previous fundraising efforts by adding some further activities:
24th April - 26.2 mile London Marathon
1st May - 12 mile West London Tough Mudder
31st July - 100 mile Pru Ride London
Any donation, however small is hugely appreciated. Should you wish to join me at any of the events or be a training partner all support is welcome.
George is now 6 years old, bubbling with energy, loving playing with his twin Henry and being big brother to 2 year old sister Rose.
