Story
UPDATE: Unfortunately Greg suffered a fatal accident in March, and as a consequence his family asked Manchester Triathlon Club (of which Greg was a member) if there would be anyone interested in taking his place. The wonderful Greg Godley (Greg2) stepped forward to ride in his memory. Greg2 is also passionate about the transformative effects of exercise on mental health and the family cannot thank him enough for continuing this legacy.
Greg Strachey's original words:
Through my sister's work within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust I've been exposed to the amazing work of its charity, Raising Health, and its work in funding community mental health projects.
Through Sarah, I've been given the opportunity to cycle 100 miles at Ride London 2022, in order to support a campaign for one of the trust's long-term mental health units, Stewart House, to help its patients on their road to recovery by building an on-site mini-gym.
Patients at Stewart House usually spend around 15 months getting support in managing severe and enduring mental illnesses which impact all areas of their life. The staff at Stewart House help patients to manage their illness and re-engage with their family and communities.
Stewart House believes in the transformative power of exercise on mental health. This is something I'm also passionate about following my own physical and mental health journey over the last few years, which will culminate in competing in an Ironman triathlon in July 2022.
Thank you for your time, and we'd be grateful for any support or contributions that you're able to make.

Raising Health is the charity for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. We raise vital funds to support the health and well being of patients, staff and volunteers above that of core NHS funding. We support activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, photography, gardening, day's out, sensory equipment, sensory gardens, gyms for patients and much more. Our Ride London participants will be supporting their chosen Raising Health campaign (as above). Please support them.
