Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Dennis, aka "Dingo", was a much loved, adventurous, larger than life, generous and supportive husband and grandfather, and dad to my brother Hartley and I. He died of Bowel Cancer after a long and fulfilling life and was able to enjoy a peaceful and dignified passing, in large part thanks to the wonderful care and kindness of the Macmillan team in their Christchurch hospice. The same incredible people also gave our mum and others in the family much needed support at that time.
I've been privileged to work and "play" with many talented and accomplished people down the years, but to this day I can't say I've ever met anyone who does a more difficult job, leave alone so well, as the Macmillan team. Inspired by his memory, and by friends who've taken on other fundraising challenges in recent years, I decided to attempt the Yorkshire 3 Peaks this summer.
It's 24.5 miles and 3 mountains within 12 hours, and I can't think of a more fitting cause, or way to raise money in memory of a man who so loved the outdoors and introduced us to it. As a bonus, thanks to the training I started in January, I'm also now fitter and leaner than I've been for many years, and have made some great new friends with the people with whom I'm training and doing the challenge.
I'd be very grateful for whatever you feel able to pledge and, remember, Macmillan get even more if you're eligible for Gift Aid.
