We Create wildflower habitats to help protect Britain's bumblebees

Story

I am running the Tough Mudder Challenge on Saturday 24th September, and I only have 4 weeks to train! The two charities I am fundraising for are close to my heart: The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) bumblebeeconservation.org & The National Autistic Society (NAS) www.autism.org.uk

In the last 80 years our bumblebee populations have crashed. Bumblebees are much-loved insects that pollinate our crops and wildflowers, and I want to see a future in which our communities and countryside are rich in bumblebees and colourful flowers, supporting biodiversity of wildlife and habitats for everyone to enjoy. I have chosen BBCT as their aims include: supporting the conservation of all bumblebees, rare or abundant; raising awareness and increase understanding about the social, economic, and environmental benefits bees provide; ensuring BBCT is sustainable, fit for purpose, and able to respond quickly to challenges and change.

Wish me luck!

About the charity

Bumblebees are in decline because of a loss of their habitats. Our landscape is changing, over 97% of the UK's grasslands have been lost in the past 70 years. We work to put much needed flowers back into the countryside to benefit our bumblebees and other wildlife.
