Green Ink Sponsored Write brings together published authors and writing students to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Reflecting Macmillan's mission of quality of life for everyone affected by cancer, writers are sponsored for their time, not their word-count.
Also reflecting that same mission, this year's theme selected by Ramsey Campbell is Constant Renewal: "life never dies but is in a constant state of renewal". A world-exclusive anthology of material created in the Sponsored Write on this theme will be emailed to everyone who donates BEFORE THE END OF THE WRITING DAY (AND TICKS THE JUSTGIVING BOX ALLOWING US TO CONTACT THEM so we can send it!), arriving in inboxes on Monday 17 October, 48 hours after it's written. If you haven't received yours by Tuesday morning and you've checked your junk mail, email steve@blackshuckbooks.co.uk!
The 2022 Sponsored Writers are: Charlotte Bond, Alex Davis, Ann El Ida, Sarah Feazey, Paul Finch, Shane Finn, Aimee Foster, Sophie Hannah, Marianne Izen, Penny Jones, Roz Kaveney, Rachel Knightley, Nic Lamont, Stephen Laws, Lisa Morton, Katharine Orton, JJ Shippen, Greg A.Smith and Jennifer Steil. Anthology design is by Steve J. Shaw of Black Shuck Books. Writing will begin at 10.30am on 15 October and end at 5.30pm (with a break for lunch!). The writers then have 24 hours to edit their work and email it to Green Ink Writers' Gym HQ to be turned into an anthology for our sponsors.
In 2021 we raised £3493. In 2020 we raised £3713. We'd love it if you could help us smash these totals for this amazing charity.
If you're donating in support of a particular sponsored writer, or in memory of a friend or family member, please do share your story. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. It's the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs so Macmillan Cancer Support can continue helping everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.
