Some of you will know, my brothers girlfriend Leah was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma aged 21 in January 2023. She has endured multiple courses of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant earlier this year. Unfortunately, a recent scan has shown that her treatment hasn’t been successful and she is currently going through more chemotherapy and has a further stem cell transplant planned for autumn. This time she is having a donor stem cell transplant as opposed to using her own stem cells.
Leah has a shown so much strength and resilience through out all of this and we are all so proud of her. I am participating in the Great North Run and originally was doing this with Leah however as a result of recent news, my brother Max is taking her place. We are running to raise funds for Anthony Nolan which is a charity that is very close to our hearts.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
Any donations would be appreciated and more information on how to register to become a stem cell donor can be found on the Anthony Nolan website.
