Story
On Saturday 16th September, we will be taking on the Great Hospital Hike to fundraise for King's College Hospital Charity. Every penny raised will support King's College Hospital Foundation Trust (which includes the Princess Royal (PRUH), Orpington, Queen Mary's, and King’s) to go above and beyond what the NHS can provide, to fund innovative equipment, life-changing research and better facilities.
We’re walking 18 miles (which will take 6-8 hours!!) because our husband / Dad (Pradeep) had life-saving treatment in both the PRUH and King’s in 2022, and we want to say a massive thank you!
In February 2022, Pradeep found out he had both skin cancer and bone marrow cancer. However, by March 2023, he had already had the all clear as a result of the amazing treatment and care he received.
In March 2022, he had cancerous cells removed from his ankle, and by April 2022, he had his first 35-day round of in-house chemotherapy at the PRUH.
Then in July 2022, he had his next 21-day round of in-house chemotherapy at King’s in readiness for his bone marrow/stem cell transplant, which he successfully had on 14 July.
During all the treatments he had as an inpatient and outpatient, he was incredibly well looked after. From the cleaners, porters, auxiliary and kitchen staff, to the nurses, doctors and consultants, everyone was exemplary.
We wanted to do this walk to say a massive thank you to everyone, as it’s the least we can do! With the help of friends and family, we will be able to raise money to support the Trust to continue their amazing work.
Please donate what you can as it’s not going to be the easiest day for a 71 year old, and a 35 year old who wasn’t fit before having a baby, so is in no fit state now!
