Here we go again!! 

On Saturday 17th September 2022, I will be taking on the Great Hospital Hike in support of King's College Hospital Charity.

Last year on Saturday 18th September #teamwinter took part in the first ever Great Hospital Hike for King’s. It was a fantastic day for us all, early starts, trains into London, last minute toilet dashes, helium balloons and sun lotion. 

As we stomped the 18 mile route we had wonderful conversations, lots of laughs, a few tears and even a little dancing. Family came from miles to see us cross the finish line and the biggest surprise of all was to see mum there - one of her first outings in a wheelchair only days after being discharged from hospital! 

After lots of hugs, tears and cheers we all got cleaned up and managed to stay on our feet well into the night to celebrate my 40th birthday. Somehow I was awake for 21hours that day, it was the most amazing and memorable birthday… all because mum was there. 

Without the treatment and care she received at King’s  College hospital last year I don’t think that would have been the case. 

We can never thank the individuals involved enough but hopefully by taking part in this hike, raising awareness and some money we can do a little in return. 

This year I will be hiking with my family again, including my mum!! I still cannot quite believe the incredible recovery she has made over the last year and will never take a day for granted. 

It’s not to late to join us! One month to go, still plenty of time to get those steps up, it’s not a race, we’ll take a slow pace and enjoy the day.
