Story
My wife of almost 14 years, Dawn, found out earlier this year that she has inherited a cancer gene, which meant that she stood an 86% chance of contracting either breast or ovarian cancer, if not treated. The only known treatment for this condition is surgery. She will have to undergo a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy.
I am doing this skydive to help raise money for the Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline, which was set up by someone who suffered the same condition, and gave up everything to set the helpline up, in order to help others with the same condition. Without the help and support received so far, I think we'd all be driving ourselves crazy with worry.
The helpline have already offered so much support to Dawn and our family, I feel it only right to do my bit. The helpline is almost entirely self-funded and need all the money that we can raise.
Dawn is only 38 and I would ask that if one of your loved ones was suffering the same thing, how would you react?
I appreciate that times are hard, financially, but please give what you can so that we can help those who are helping women all over the country to come to terms with what they have to go through.
