Story

The Granite City Guerrillas are proud to host the ROCKET CUP, a dodgeball tournament to raise funds for Friends of the Special Nursery (FOTSN) in memory of Harris Ian McDonald.

Last year, one of our veteran players sadly lost his son. Harris Ian McDonald, Kevin and Rhiannon’s baby boy, was born 12 weeks early. Harris was very poorly and was immediately moved to the Aberdeen Neonatal Unit.

Harris showed true bravery and determination, he put up an incredible fight against his many illnesses and everyone quickly fell in love with his beautiful personality. Sadly, Harris passed away when he was just seven days old.

During his seven days, the doctors, nurses and staff at Aberdeen neonatal unit helped make Harris’s short life full of happy and incredibly special memories that Kevin and Rhiannon will never forget. They are truly inspirational people, making a very difficult time one that will always be cherished by Harris's family.

The Friends of the Special Nursery are the charity that support the unit, helping other local families in similar circumstances. By supporting FOTSN, funds will go to NICU equipment, training for staff and support for the families during a difficult journey (please see website for more details - www.specialnursery.org).

The Rocket Cup aims to bring together teams of dodgeball players, regardless of experience, to battle for The Rocket Cup, whilst raising money and awareness of FOTSN. The tournament will take place on Saturday 28th April at the Beach Leisure Centre in Aberdeen. This aims to be the BIGGEST charity dodgeball tournament that has ever happened in Scotland. It promises to be a great day with raffles, cake stands, competitions and more!
