Story
In 2018 Kenny Craig and I cycled 1200km in 10 days from Tignes in the French Alps to Grateley, Hamshire to take part in the Tour de Test Valley in memory of our friend Nelson Pratt, who took his own life in 2012 and to raise money for CALM.
This year is the 10th anniversary of this incredible event, so once again it's time to put a shift in. Kenny can't make it as he's saving the world, so James Stentiford has stepped into his gigantic shoes and will be joining me to cycle the Atlantic coast from the SW of France up to Grateley just in time for the Tour du Test event. As before we will be unsupported and will be camping along the way - 10 days, 1200km.
As a neurodiverse person I have had my own battles with mental health. Sometimes I've found it difficult to leave my bedroom let alone cycle the length of an entire country. Being open, reaching out for help and finding the right support network has helped me overcome the darkest, isolated times. If you're feeling really shit, know you're not alone and their is a lot of support and help out there.
In 2018 we raised over £7000 for CALM on our adventure. Times are tough and everyone is feeling the pinch but we would appreciate any support you can give to help CALM prevent the number of suicides each week increasing, of which 75% are male. If you can't support financially, it's ok, we understand. Just talking about this to your friends, your family or anyone you come across in your daily lives will help raise awareness and make a difference. Thanks for your time, see you in Grateley on the 17th September, 2022 for the 10th anniversary ride. RIDE ON NELLY x
