Story
My wonderful Grandad Ken sadly passed away towards the end of 2021 after his battle with Dementia and shorter battle with Cancer.
Grandad Ken was the most mischievous, cheeky and the most kindest, truest Yorkshire gent you could ever meet.
I'll always treasure such fond memories of him from when I was younger of pottering with him in his secret garden, traipsing over the Moors or him teaching me to sing 'Ilkley Moor Bah Tat.' (As well as some of the trouble he used to get into with my Nan.)
Grandad Ken used to work as a Fire Fighter then later a Fire Captain, if he was badass enough to run into burning buildings then I'm (mostly) sure I can run a few laps around Exeter to raise money for a truly worthy cause, not only in Grandads memory but in support of my Nanny Sheila who is hands down, the strongest, fiercest and most astounding women I know.
The Alzheimers Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
