Grainne's Losing It!
Fundraising for Rennie Grove Hospice Care
Fundraising for Rennie Grove Hospice Care
In November last year, aged 86, my Father passed away. A healthy soul for many years, the last five of those were the toughest. Were it not for places like Rennie Grove Hospice Care, I cannot imagine how much more difficult it would have been for my sister and myself, without the experience and training of health care professionals, amazing individuals who have made it their purpose to care for those who can no longer care for themselves.
The fact is, the human population is living longer with each passing generation. Not everyone will enjoy good health right up to the end of their lives, so professional hospice institutions offering support and care are so very, very important. Heaven forbid, but none of us can never rule out the day when we, a family member or a friend would be in need of such support.
My Mum for example. She has Multiple Sclerosis. Has had for 45 years. She too is now in full time care.
Working in the charity sector for the last 7 years, I would not have the time and independence to do a job at the core of my heart, were it not for those who dedicate themselves in such a way.
These are my reasons for taking on the Biggest Loser Challenge.
The phrase goes, "What have I got to lose?" Well, quite a lot to lose and plenty to gain. With your help, we can do something wonderful by giving a little of ourselves to help those in need who cannot help themselves.
At the end of it all, taking on the London-Brighton Bike Ride beckons in June, with some very lovely friends. If I reach my goal for Rennie Grove, I'll undertake the bike ride in a rather special costume (with a twist). Those who know the charity I work for will understand!
So thanks so much for reading my words. Here's hoping you can spare the loss of a few pounds. I know I can...
