Story
As you may know I have been working at the Hospice of St Francis for over five years now. In that time they have given me many opportunities to advance my career and I want to give something back. I started off just managing the Fundraising database, and now I am managing the entire IT infrastructure for the organisation.
More importantly though is the unending support the Hospice gives to others. The patients at the Hospice are fighting terrible illnesses and of course this pain extends to their friends and families as well. My colleagues at the Hospice help thousands of people in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire who are going through the worst times of their lives, and we can only do it because of the generosity of our community. The Hospice relies on fundraising for 80% of its income so it is no exageration to say that without this voluntary support the Hospice simply couldn't function.
I am also looking to do this as a personal goal. Since the start of the lockdowns I have put on a great deal of weight and become far too lethargic. I am using this as an impetus to help me get back in shape and become much fitter.
I will need to do this as on the first day I will be climbing not one, but TWO mountains. Firstly the 3rd highest mountain in Wales; Pen Y Fan (886m), and then later in the day the 2nd higest; Cadair Idris (893m). Finally on the 2nd day it's the big one; Snowdon (1,085m) before the long drive home.
Thank you so much for your support. YOU ARE AMAZING!
