Story
From Graham,
Right, most of the people helping me do the fundraising know what I am doing this for. I don’t want to drag this letter on, but I lost my youngest daughter Bobby Jay on my birthday 29 Oct 2008 , so on her birthday which is 29 April ,I am doing something special, I did fantastic last year and we all raised £2700 and this was a huge amount. See now, on this charity event I want to get more people to help and do this challenge with me.
In this challenge we’re going to walk 50 miles in under 24 hours!!!! But the thing is, we’re doing it all in one day. The limit on the mini bus is 24 but there maybe more than that, they will make their own way there. The walk is supported as we have had a mini bus donated for the day, from Expressways Coaches. It will drop us off at Didsbury, Manchester at 12 pm (picked up at Tesco car park at 10.30 pm.) and it will be waiting 16 miles in at Broadbottom where we can refresh our supplies and have a little rest. Then it is back out on a 19 mile hike where it will be waiting for us at Penistone train station. Then it’s the last part of the hike 13 miles to Waterfront Golf, Wath.
Look, last year all I wanted to do was raise enough money for my little girl so she could have a grave stone, but certain people would not allow me do so. Now after the large amount we all raised last year, through all the help I’ve had, I have now been allowed to do this, and with the charities backing to go ahead and get a grave stone, as long as all the people sponsoring understand this.
All I can say is that I will never be able to repay the kindness and generosity in all your hearts. So soon there will be a grave stone on my little Bobby Jays grave.
We will be holding a charity auction on the arrival of us finishing the walk, hopefully around 7:30pm. There will be many items going up for auction, and anyone wanting to come is more than welcome to join in with the bidding. Just last year, at the auction alone we raised £700.00 and it was a great success. We will be having it at Waterfront Golf, 29 April, so please feel free to come and join us all. Many thanks for your time taken to read this, Graham

Waterfront Golf’s Involvement
Following the success of the Auction evening that took place last year, Waterfront Golf will again host an auction on Thursday 29th April once the walkers arrive back at the venue.
During the afternoon itself, Waterfront Golf will have a Members competition with all the entry fees being donated to the charity. This will hopefully encourage more members than last year to attend the auction which will also be followed by a Disco until late.
Waterfront Golf’s Manager and Head PGA Golf Professional, Paul Stancliffe will along with Head Greenkeeper, Marc Scott be participating in the 53 mile walk themselves hoping to raise funds through their golf club members.
Anyone who is interested in attending the Auction and Disco, or even provide auction items to raise funds then please do not hesitate to contact Paul on 01709 877616.
