Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 29th July, I start cycling a 3,200 mile route across the USA from San Francisco Bay to Battery Park, New York on the banks of the Hudson River. In 31 days I'll cycle the hottest of deserts, the highest of mountain ranges, the broadest of plains and the widest of rivers. Join me on my journey by following me on twitter (@bay2hudson) and instagram (bay2hudson)
During the ride, I'm hoping to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer, a charity set up to fund research in to this most pernicious of diseases, which kills 11 women in the UK every day.
Many years ago, my then girlfriend, Fiona, a young, beautiful, intelligent, dedicated nurse based at Barts and Homerton hospitals, was, after a period of suffering non-specific symptoms, diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She died nine months later.
It turns out that 32 years after that diagnosis, little has changed - correct diagnoses are often too late to save the sufferer, or meaningfully prolong life. Target Ovarian Cancer is a charity dedicated to reversing this situation through education and research, and I'd be delighted if you could spare something to help fund their critically important activities and help save lives from this awful killer.
