Story
As many of you know, our son Mark was born prematurely in December 2011. During his time in the Neonatal Unit at Kingston Hospital, we were supported by the Born Too Soon charity.
In the first few days, Mark was in a high dependency unit with oxygen and a heated unit. He moved to another room shortly after as he was able to breathe on his own but he was unable to maintain his body temperature or feed without a tube. He had a tough fight every day to stay alive and slowly but surely, he won and we were able to take him home after 3 weeks.
Whilst in hospital, the support we had from the staff there was amazing. This included them explaining what to expect step by step, loaning a breast pump to pump milk whilst Kate was at home, taking photos and printing them out on site and giving us both baby first aid. Kate had to resuscitate Mark at home and this training enabled her to save Mark's life. The Born Too Soon charity help to fund the beds in the Neonatal Unit and without them, our son would not be alive today.
Please support me in this challenge to enable other families to be supported in the same way we were.
