Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Unfortunately my very close family has been heavily effected by dementia. It really can happen to any of us!
I decided to raise money for The Monthly Alzheimer's Support Evenings (MASE). An amazing charity offering help to carers and their loved ones who are on the journey of dementia.
For what I will have to endure for 7 hours of hard work and pain (1.2 mile lake swim, 56 mile bike ride and a marathon 13.1 mile, without a break) is nothing compared to what carers and their loved ones have to go through every single day.
I thank you massively in advance for your contributions. Every penny we raise will make a huge difference to providing better times.
Facts on Dementia:
The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These changes are often small to start with, but for someone with dementia they have become severe enough to affect daily life. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.
850,000 people have dementia in the UK.
The number of people with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase to over 1 million by 2025 and over 2 million by 2051.
