Graham Patten's Bob Graham Round
Fundraising for Bliss
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I plan to run the 70 mile Bob Graham Round, taking in 42 Lake District peaks, all within 24 hours, as a personal challenge and along the way help to raise funds for BLISS. Nine years ago, I had been training to run the Bob Graham Round. However, plans changed drastically and that year life presented me and my partner Claire with a different challenge to get through. On 25th March 2006, our lives were turned upside down. Our daughter Kimberley, who was born at Lancaster Infirmary prematurely at 26 weeks, lost her fight for life simply because the equipment wasn’t good enough. As the birth was an emergency caesarian, there was insufficient time to get mum and daughter to Preston or Burnley, where more specialist ventilation equipment was available. To celebrate the wonder of life that we all sometimes take for granted, and in memory of our little girl Kimberley, I’m planning to run the BG Round this year, on or around the 16th May (weather depending), raising money for BLISS, so other babies born prematurely may have a better chance of this gift of life. It's a team effort, with Claire and our little 5 year old boy Ash supporting, with friends joining me on the run.
