Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, although I said I wouldn't run again, and despite a year of major problems with "Cramping Calves" ( which I think should be the name of my band should I ever form one!), I have decided to compete in the UK Fast City of Salford 10k on 8th September. (Please note UK Fast is the name of the company sponsoring the event, not the speed I will run it). I am normally very competitive when it comes to running, and indeed most things, but my aim next week is just to get round without my calves cramping up. Any suggestions as to what to do to prevent this would be much appreciated. I will be running to raise money for the Encephalitis Society. They have been such a support to Sandra and myself over the last 22 years and to be honest I am not sure where we would have been without them. They essentially do three things: Support those who have had encephalitis. Raise awareness so people are diagnosed earlier. Help fund research to both prevent and provide treatment. They get no government funding. I know we all get asked a lot to support charities and so realise this is just one more. So if you can that would be great, and if you cant, could you sign the petition that is also on my Facebook page, that is asking the World Health Organisation to recognise World Encephalitis Day and so get the word spread round even more. Thank you to everyone for reading this.
