Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I weighed over 85kg (188 pounds or 13 1/2 stone in old money!). This created many small problems and I decided I needed to lose weight. With the help of a work colleague I embarked on a weight loss programme and am now a svelte 65kg (144 pounds or 10 1/2 stone).
So how to celebrate my new found physique? Well, I've always enjoyed cycling so what could be better than doing a charity bike ride? The perfect opportunity presented itself when I heard of the Bike Blenheim palace ride for Breast Cancer Care that takes place on 19th August 2012.
I have decided to enter the 60 mile (96km) road ride as this is a real challenge for me but an achievable one. So now I'm in training to improve my fitness and increase my chances of success.
Cancer is a disease that affects many of us either personally or through loved ones. My wife died of brain cancer, my father from lung cancer and my mother from breast cancer. This cycle ride represents an opportunity for me to give something back to those who cared for my loved ones and who one day may be caring for yours too.
