Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I had just turned 17 when my dad died suddenly from a heart attack one night, he was just 56. Obviously it had profound affect on me and my family. To never have been able to speak to him man to man left a massive hole in my life, to not have him around to share the ups and downs of life has been painful. He worked hard all his life for his family but did not see the amazing legacy of his children mature into adults.
So this is a great opportunity to raise some cash for the British Heart Foundation to hopefully help other people whilst doing something I enjoy, mountain biking.
That's my dad, Derrick, in the photo with me to the right and my brother to the left.
The off road ride is 121km long which is 4 or 5 times the length of my average ride so it will be a great challenge. There is a double benefit: to raise money for a great cause in my dad's name but also helping to keep my heart healthy so I can be around for my kids.
We all get loads of opportunities to donate, there are so many good causes, so if you feel like putting some cash in the pot, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
