Story
Five years ago my sister Fiona was diagnosed with a brain cyst. The cyst was pressing on the trigeminal nerve causing intense facial pain and epilepsy. She had to undergo 3 invasive and dangerous brain operations at the wonderful St George’s Hospital, London and as a result of the amazing surgeon the cyst was eventually completely removed. Now the seizures are controlled because of the interventions by her Neurologist.
Fiona was a keen runner but due to the pain and the seizures she had to stop. Now the cyst has gone she challenged herself to get back to the running and has taken on the mammoth task of running the London Marathon for the first time. This is where we come in, Kate and I have agreed to run it with her.
To be clear we are not runners! We did a 10km fun run last September so this is a big stretch and a massive objective to train for. However we are determined and are spurred on by raising money for Brain Research UK to fund much needed research into understanding the condition, this will prevent people from suffering like Fiona did.
To say we are in awe of how Fiona dealt with the challenges she had and the very slow recovery is an understatement, so we are both honoured to be able to join her and help raise much needed funds.
We would be very grateful if you can dig deep and support us and this amazing charity.
Thank you
Kate & Graham
