Story
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For a child that is looking for a family, being adopted can be one of the greatest gifts they can receive in life and I’m privileged enough to have received that gift myself.
I’ve been running for what seems a very long time now and never felt the calling to run for charity in the past. However, like many of us during lockdown & COVID times, this got me thinking. A big part of this is because I lost my adopted mum, or “my mum” as I have always called her, in April 2021. Because of her, I have I lived a fulfilling life which has helped mould me the way I am today. Family is not an important thing. It's everything.
I was lucky enough to be adopted at birth. Many children are not so lucky. They find themselves (through no fault of their own) in care and require the help from organisations like Barnardos to find them a family of their own. They do so much other great work helping to protect, support and nurture the most vulnerable of children. I have helped fund raise for Barnardos whilst in school as a child and actively through work for last 32 years.
This will be my third marathon to date but my first running in London which I think will be rewarding but a challenge in itself. During these different and difficult times, if you can help me in anyway with my fundraising (big or small)….I would be most grateful.
