Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For seven days starting from Monday 25th May, we will be walking 10,000 steps (or more) a day along some of Somerset's beautiful rivers and canals and in the process hoping to raise some money to go towards a swimming pool at our daughter's school, The Mendip School in Shepton Mallet.
The Mendip School near Shepton Mallet caters for children age 4-19 with autism spectrum disorders and other speech, language, communication problems.
Swimming is an important life skill for all children, but for children
with learning disabilities swimming is particularly important. 9 out of 10 people with an autism spectrum disorder also suffer from sensory problems. Swimming can help to give relief to these and also to the high level of anxiety people with autism often experience.
Planning for the pool has now been approved - https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/new-15m-indoor-swimming-pool-4141971
