Story
As age creeps on me I've decided to try and stay trim by completing this year's Great North Run in less than 2 hours. I know, not an amazing time but not bad for a 13 stone, 33 year old with dodgy knees!
More importantly I'm running it in the memory of Theo Walker and to raise funds for the 'Theo Walker Fund'Sadly Dan and Lucy Walker lost their son Theo, at the age of 4 & half weeks old from a congenital heart condition, last year.
Theo and his parents received so much help and support in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit ('PICU') of the Royal Brompton and then at home from various community organisations and thus decided to set up a fund to raise money and awareness so that the quality of care available to families in a similar position can be improved further...
The Theo Walker Fund aims to raise money for those charities that offer support and help to children in a similar position. One such charity is ‘The Brompton Fountain’(Charity Reg. 1110339). The Brompton Fountain charity exists to support the families of children under the care of The Royal Brompton and Harefield Trust for severe, often life threatening, heart and lung conditions. The Brompton Fountain helps in many ways, including; providing information, putting people in touch with others in similar situations, holding fun and social events, improving the physical facilities and environment families have access to while in hospital and offering support to the siblings of children with heart and lung conditions. www.thebromptonfountain.org.uk Theo's story is very touching and to lose your child is every parent’s nightmare, please visit the ‘Theo Walker Fund’ website http://www.theowalkerfund.com to find out more and read what the little fella’s memory means to his parents and all the great fund raising activities that have already taken place. So, I'll be pushing myself around my hometown and would love for you to donate something to such a worthy cause. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Finally, If you want to come along and support me on the day that would also be amazing too!
Run, Forest, Run
