Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Claire passed away on 9th March 2013. She died from YSCD (Young Sudden Cardiac Death) or SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) as it is commonly called. Basically a Cardiac Arrest caused by an unknown but detectable abnormal heart rhythm. Claire was a fit healthy and active lady. She was 22 years old, and had been married to Andy for only 5 months.

We are raising funds to facilitate heart screenings for young people aged 14 - 35 in memory of Claire. To date we have funded the screenings of over 1,400 young people locally.

If Claire had been screened and her condition detected and treated, she would be alive today.

We are lobbying the UKNSC (UK National Screening Committee) and HM Government to provide heart screening of young people on the NHS.
