Story
I am one of few people nationwide, chosen by The Firefighters Charity to run the 2017 London marathon for them. This has nothing to do with my running ability - in fact, i have never attempted to run so far in my life - but because I sincerely believe in the fantastic service this charity provides.
The Firefighters Charity offers support and rehabilitation to firefighters and their families during times of injury, illness, stress and bereavement. The charity also offers its help to widows and widowers of firefighters.
All firefighters want to do is to help people, so when they find themselves unable to work for whatever reason it can become a challenging time both physically and mentally. this is where the charity steps in.
I have personally used the Firefighters Charity when I suffered a shoulder and back injury. After a significant time off work I began to feel useless and suffered mentally. The charity were absolutely fantastic and after a 2 week rehab programme at their centre in Cumbria I was soon back at work. I have seen many colleagues with a similar story since then.
None of us know when we may need the fire service, but rest assured, when you do, there are some brave and selfless men and women out there waiting to help you. It's just that every now and then they need help too.
So help them to help you by donating to the amazing Firefighters Charity.
Thank you
