Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some 35 years ago (in 1987) I was a RAF Engineer Officer serving a tour of duty at the RAF College Cranwell and was severely injured in a road traffic collision. The RAF Benevolent Fund provided some invaluable support to my family whilst I was recovering over many months in hospital.
So the RAF Benevolent Fund has become the focus for my latest challenge. This year sees the 80th Anniversary of the Dambusters’ Raid. By coincidence the distance from RAF Scampton (where 617 Squadron was formed) and RAF Marham (where they are now based) is just about 80 miles.
80 is the theme of my challenge.
The challenge is to run 80 miles in 80 days, starting on 26 February and finishing on 16th May the date of the Dambusters’ Raid in 1943.
I’ll be starting the running from Scampton Church (soon to incorporate a heritage hub: https://scamptonchurch.org
and finishing at RAF Marham. In between it will be a “virtual” run. I hope to raise at least £800 for the RAF Benevolent Fund and their continuing work.
