Story
Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I will be running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on 9 October to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, and would be very grateful if you could sponsor me.
Primary bone cancer occurs most commonly in children and young people. Around 400 young people develop bone cancer each year in the UK alone. In children and young adults under 30 the most common types of bone cancer are osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma. Whilst many patients now survive, many do not; currently, the survival rate for osteosarcoma is some 55% at 5 years and that for Ewing’s sarcoma is around 60% at 5 years.
Bone Cancer Research Trust funds and promotes research in primary bone cancer, mainly focusing on osteosarcoma and Ewing’s sarcoma, the most common types of bone cancer. Primary bone cancer currently gets very little funding from other sources; it is for this reason that the Trust was formed in 2006 as an alliance of established local charities and groups of family and friends of bone cancer patients throughout the UK and Ireland.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Anything you are able to donate will be most welcome. I really appreciate all your support and thank you in advance.
