Story
UPDATE - May 2006.
Due to the ongoing security problems in Nepal, I have now reluctantly decided to cancel my trip to Mt Everest this year. Instead I will be going on a 10 day desert mountain trek in Namibia in September organised by the same charity, Scope. Although this means I will be trekking in the extreme heat rather than the extreme cold, please rest assured it will be a similarly gruelling event. All monies raised thus far will still be going to the Scope as was the case previously.
UPDATE - February 2006.
Unfortunately, due to severe civil unrest & violence, the Foreign Office have advised against all but essential travel to Nepal during February. As a result my trip has been postponed until November 2006. I will keep you updated on this web-site.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. In February 2006, I am embarking on an arduous 14 day trek to the Himalayas which will take me to the base of Mt. Everest and the summit of Kala Pattar, reaching a height of 5,545m (18,188 ft).
Freezing temperatures, altitude sickness, 6 to 10 hour treks daily for 14 days, blisters and sharing a tent with strangers fed on yak's milk for 2 weeks - it promises to be quite a challenge.
To make my suffering worthwhile I would really appreciate your support in raising money for Scope, the charity for people with cerebral palsy. Every six hours a child is born with cerebral palsy. It can happen to any child. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers. I am aiming to raise a minimum of £3,500, so please give as much as you can.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
